Spent $40 on a password manager a few years back and it's the best money I ever spent.
I used to keep all my passwords in a notebook on my desk, which sounds crazy now. After a friend had their email hacked, I finally bought a subscription. It was about forty bucks for the year. Now I have a different, strong password for every site and I don't have to remember any of them. It feels like going from a paper map to GPS. Has anyone else made a small security upgrade that just clicked for them?

Honestly, I still keep mine in a notebook and I don't see the problem. It's not connected to the internet so it can't get hacked, and I don't have to worry about some company getting breached and losing all my data. All these managers and two factor codes just add more steps and more things that can go wrong. I trust my own system more than some app I have to pay for every year.

Until your notebook gets lost in a move.

My system is a shoebox full of sticky notes.

I finally set up two-factor on my main email last year after a scare. It was annoying at first, but now getting that code on my phone is just part of the routine. I use an app for it, so no texts. It took maybe ten minutes to do, but it feels like a huge lock on the front door. I sleep better knowing that password alone isn't enough.
