Spent $60 on a password manager after getting locked out of my bank account
Last month I tried to log into my bank to pay rent and realized I forgot the password. I went through the reset process but my recovery email was an old Yahoo account I also couldn't get into. Took me 3 days and two phone calls to prove I was me. Finally caved and paid $60 for a year of Bitwarden. Has anyone else had a close call like this with account recovery?

Oh man, that bank password reset loop is the absolute worst. I still remember the time I got locked out of my own email because I used a password from like 2012 and couldn't remember the security questions I answered back then. What's the point of having security questions if you're just gonna forget what street you lived on ten years ago, right? I ended up having to send a photo of my ID holding a handwritten sign and everything. Felt like I was being interrogated for a crime I didn't commit. Now I just write everything down in a notebook I keep in my sock drawer.

Wait, you actually had to send a photo holding a handwritten sign? That's insane. I've seen some wild security stuff but that takes the cake. I would've just given up and made a new email address at that point haha.
