That $40 VPN I cheaped out on leaked my IP during a sensitive work call

Ngl I grabbed a random VPN for $40/year and it straight up dropped my connection during a client meeting, showing my real IP on screen for 10 seconds. Did anyone else get burned by a budget VPN or is it just me?

that $40 price point is basically a gamble, you're paying for the hope it works not the guarantee. i had one that worked fine for months then randomly switched off mid-stream, never trusted it again.

and then what did you do after it died mid-stream? just toss it and eat the loss or did you try to get a replacement? cause that's the part that gets me with these cheap ones, the return window is usually gone by the time they break. you basically have to buy another one and hope it lasts longer, which kinda defeats the purpose of saving money in the first place.
