Appreciation post for that old cookbook blog that vanished overnight
I used to rely on this one blog called "The Burnt Toast Chronicles" for all my line cook recipes at home. It had this killer method for breaking down a whole chicken in under 2 minutes that saved me so much time. About 6 months ago I went to pull up their page on pork shoulder brines and got a 404 error. Wayback Machine has a few old screenshots but most of the images are broken or missing. I remember the author mentioning she was from Portland and worked at a diner for 10 years. Anyone else have a go-to resource that just disappeared one day with no warning?

Wait, did you ever check if she had a backup or a newsletter? I feel like most serious bloggers usually have some kind of follow list for this exact reason. It stings when a good resource just vanishes, but honestly most of those old blogs were hosted on free platforms that could pull the plug anytime. I've seen a dozen recipe sites disappear and half the time the author just got burned out and didn't leave a trace. Have you tried searching under her name or the diner name on any other cooking forums?

Did your friend ever try the Wayback Machine thing?
