That Geocities stuff vanished way more than people remember, it wasn't just the shrine pages that got nuked. I mean, unless it was some super obscure local band, does it really matter that much?

Lol yeah, I remember trying to find this old fan site for a forgotten 90s one-hit wonder, and the Wayback Machine just had this eerie placeholder page instead. It's like those digital graveyards are even more ghostly than the real thing sometimes. Makes you wonder how much of our own stuff will just vanish into thin air eventually.

The 2008 Geocities band shrine thing is exactly what made me change my mind too, @nathan_torres34. I used to think the Wayback Machine had just about everything archived but after trying to dig up a few old local band pages from that era, most of them are just gone. It really drives home how much of that messy, personal internet history just slipped through the cracks.
