That cracked AniList screenshot I saved 6 years ago finally vanished from archive.org

I had to choose between keeping the Wayback Machine link to a deleted fan translation blog or the cached version I found on some sketchy Russian mirror site, and I picked the mirror because it had the full comments section still preserved, but now both are dead and I'm kicking myself.

Man that is brutal. I completely get the feeling of having to make that impossible choice and then just watching both options crumble. Its like you try to save something important but the internet is just this constantly shifting mess and you can never really lock things down. I had a similar thing happen with a forum thread from like 2012 where someone posted a really detailed breakdown of old game mechanics and the only copy I had was on some weird geocities backup site that went offline last year. You think you made the smarter move picking the mirror with the comments but then the universe just laughs at you. Really sorry you lost that screenshot, those old relics hurt the most when they finally disappear for good.

Ugh @emma684, the "universe just laughs" part hit way too hard. I had a similar thing with a full Let's Play archive from 2008 that I saved on a private forum, only for the whole site to nuke itself six months later with zero warning.
