Finally figured out why the food court fountain at my local dead mall smells like old pennies

I spent three visits over a month trying to figure out why the fountain near the old Orange Julius smells weird. Turns out the filter hasn't been changed since 2019, and there's a dead fish stuck in the pump. Anyone else ever find something gross lurking in a mall fountain?

You said "totally changed my mind" but what exactly did you think was going on with them before? Were you just assuming they were clean water or something? Curious what the old view was that you're leaving behind.
