Looking at old photos of the Sunrise Mall food court, I was shocked to learn it used to have a full-size carousel in the center until 2005.

I found a picture of it on a local history blog, and it made me realize how much they tried to pack in there to keep people coming.

A carousel in a food court is a pretty wild concept. Seems like a lot of effort for some pizza and soft pretzels.

Wait, a full size carousel? I'm trying to picture the logistics. That food court must have been huge, and @riverf34 is right, it's a lot for some Sbarro and Orange Julius. The cleaning alone sounds like a nightmare. Imagine some kid dropping a whole soft pretzel mustard-side down on one of those painted horses while it's still moving. They really went all out to make you forget you were just there to get new jeans from JCPenney.
