PSA: The Franklin Mills Mall in Philly is way worse than I thought
I used to think the old Exton Square was the saddest mall around, but then I drove out to Franklin Mills last Saturday. The indoor skatepark and the completely empty food court with only a Sbarro left made me change my mind completely. Has anyone else been there lately and seen the escalators that just go to a closed second floor?

the escalators to nowhere are such a mood killer" is absolutely perfect. I got stuck at a similar dead mall once and just started treating it like a weird art installation, taking photos of the abandoned stores. Honestly, it made it way more fun than just being sad about it.

Oh man, that is seriously rough. I've been to Franklin Mills a couple times and it just keeps getting more depressing each visit honestly lol. That empty food court with only a Sbarro is legit heartbreaking, like how does a mall even function with one pizza place? And the escalators to nowhere are such a mood killer, it's like the building is haunted by the ghost of better times. I feel you on the Exton Square comparison too, I think Franklin Mills has that special kind of sad that comes from being huge and mostly abandoned. Solidarity my friend, we've all seen some sad malls but that one takes the cake.
