Theater carpet at Monroeville Mall looked brand new in 2019, now it's rotted

Tbh I went back last month and the smell hit me before I even got to the old cinema entrance. The carpet near the food court used to have this bright red and teal pattern, you could still see the design clearly in 2019 when I took my first photos there. Now it's just brown mush, water damage from a ceiling leak that's been going on for like 2 years. The mall management put a sign up saying 'renovation in progress' but it's clearly just been abandoned. Has anyone else seen a dead mall degrade that fast, or is Monroeville just cursed?

Renovation in progress" is just code for "we gave up." That carpet rot is the mall's version of a slow funeral.
