Update on my photo setup after a comment at the old Sunrise Mall
I was taking some wide shots of the empty food court at Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights last month, and another explorer said my photos looked 'flat' because I was only using my phone's main lens. They suggested I try a cheap clip-on fisheye to get more of the ceiling and the weird scale of the space. I picked up a $25 one online and the difference is huge, it really captures the emptiness better. Anyone have a favorite lens or filter they use for these big, dead interior spaces?

Is a $25 lens really that big of a deal for dead malls?

You mean a $25 phone lens attachment? Those little clip-on things are mostly junk for the kind of dim light in malls. You'd be way better off just using your phone's main camera and getting closer to your subject.
