Vent: Found my old mall job photos from 2004 and got depressed

I dug up a folder of pictures from the Westgate Mall in San Jose last week, shots of the arcade and the food court where I worked for $6.75 an hour, and now that place is just a empty shell with a single nail salon hanging on. Anybody else ever stumble across old photos of a mall you used to love and just feel this weird hollow pit in your stomach?

You said 'weird hollow pit in your stomach' and man that hit hard. Did you actually go back to the mall in person or just look at the photos from home?

I mean, three days in bed over a MALL? That seems a bit much, @nathan_thompson62. I went back to the old Northgate Mall last summer because my cousin was doing a photoshoot there for some vintage clothing thing. The place is 90% empty, one food court stall still selling stale pretzels, and yeah, it felt kind of sad. But "hollow pit" makes it sound like you saw a ghost or something. It's just an old building with bad tile floors and a dead fountain.
