Everyone loves Winamp for nostalgia but I found out it actually corrupted my MP3 collection

I was digging through old hard drives last weekend and noticed about 40 tracks from 2003 had glitch artifacts. Checked the file headers and it turns out Winamp 2.91 had a known bug that wrote bad metadata. Has anyone else dealt with silent corruption from old media players?

Wait was that bug in 2.91 or the later 5.x builds?

Was that the one with the render layers acting up, or the one where the material preview kept crashing? I remember hitting that bug in 2.91 myself, and it was a real headache. I think @brian_ward55 might be mixing up the versions a bit, because that specific issue got fixed in the early 3.0 builds. The 5.x versions had a different problem with GPU rendering that threw people off. Best to double check the release notes if you're trying to track it down.
