Hot take: I actually miss typing up directions on MapQuest before a road trip

Drove from Charlotte to Asheville last weekend using Google Maps and got rerouted three times for traffic I couldn't see, and I'd rather have my printed turn-by-turn list that I wrote myself and knew was staying on the route I picked.

Did you print it off MapQuest or just write it down yourself from looking at the map?

Anthony was asking about MapQuest, that takes me back. I just read an article saying MapQuest is still around but nobody uses it for directions anymore. People used to print those things out with the little blue route line and all the turns listed step by step. I had a friend who would write it down on a napkin if she was in a hurry, but that always ended up with her getting lost because she'd scribble the wrong street name. At least with a printout you could fold it up and keep it in the glove box, even if the car air conditioner would make the ink run.
