I still think that old Nokia 3310 was overrated

Met a guy at a coffee shop in Portland who swore it was the best phone ever made, but after 3 months with one in 2019 I just got annoyed at typing one letter at a time with no copy-paste. Anyone else try going retro and realize the nostalgia doesn't match the reality?

Nokia had 96 characters max per text - that alone killed it for me.

My buddy Dave actually tried the retro phone thing back in 2018. He got one off eBay, was all excited about it. After two weeks he was texting like a madman with both thumbs on a tiny keypad, trying to reply to his boss about a spreadsheet. He hit send on a message that came out as "I'll have the report done by Wendnesday" and his boss called him asking if he was okay. Then his girlfriend sent him a long paragraph about dinner plans and he just gave up and called her instead. He switched back to a smartphone within a month and never mentioned the Nokia again.
