Our VCR repair guy quit in 2019, still have his card on the fridge

I mean, the shop on 5th and Main closed three years ago but the laminated card has been stuck up there since I was a kid. Last week I tried to call the number just to see what would happen, and it's now a fax line for a dental office. Anyone else keep a relic like that around just because it feels weird to toss it?

That card is a little time capsule, and I get why it feels weird to throw away. But honestly, I see it the other way. Every time you look at that fridge, it reminds you of a place that's gone, and that's not doing you any favors. I finally threw out my old Blockbuster card last year, and it took me a second, but it felt good to clear that space. Keeping a dead number around is like holding onto a phone book from 1998, it's not a memory, it's just clutter. The actual memories of the guy fixing our tapes are still in my head, and that's where they belong. Toss the card, keep the story, and free up a little corner of your fridge for something that's actually useful.
