That 3-inch floppy disk I found still had my 2004 homework on it
Found a stack of floppies in my dad's garage last month and decided to plug in an old USB drive reader I bought for $8 at a thrift shop. The third disk still booted up and had my 8th grade history essay about the Civil War, complete with my original typos. What really got me was the file date, March 2004, and that the disk was so cheap and flimsy but it outlasted three laptops and a house move. Has anyone else dug up old files on dead media and felt weirdly nostalgic about the junk you wrote as a kid?

Man, MARCH 2004? That disk survived longer than my last two hard drives combined. Crazy how we used to trust our whole homework on something you could bend by accident.
