That week in 2009 when my old Palm Pilot finally bricked for good

My old Palm Pilot Vx had been my daily driver for years, but that Tuesday the screen just went blank and never came back... I was in the middle of a coffee shop in Austin when it died, and I lost six months of notes and contacts. Has anyone else had a gadget just quit on them without warning like that?

Wait... you lost six months of contacts? That's brutal. I remember my old Tungsten T3 just straight up died mid-sync one night, screen went all static and then nothing. Had to peel off the backing to get the compact flash card out with all my data on it. Those Palm devices were tough until they just weren't. Did you ever get a backup from your computer sync or was it all gone?

@andrew7 Ugh man that static screen thing is exactly what happened to me. Mine was a Treo 650 and I was at a bar when it happened, felt sick. I actually did have a sync but it was from like four months before, so I still lost a bunch of random numbers and two clients I'd been emailing. Palm had that weird backup system where it only synced the whole thing, not individual contacts, so there was no way to merge it back. I still keep a paper notebook now for important stuff because of that.
