Found my old master cylinder from 1987 under the workbench

I was cleaning out the shop last week and stumbled across a master cylinder I pulled off a Freightliner back in '87, still sitting in a dusty box. That thing was all metal and rebuildable, not like the plastic junk we get now from the parts houses where you just throw the whole unit away. Does anyone else save old parts just to remember how much simpler this trade used to be?

Did I save that old brake fluid to spill on myself later?

That master cylinder from 87, all steel and rebuildable... yeah, I feel that one. I've got a Bendix air brake valve from a 1978 Kenworth sitting on my shelf, still has the original brass fittings and the manufacturer stamp readable. When I look at it, I remember just taking that thing apart on the tailgate, cleaning it with brake cleaner, and putting new O-rings in. Now you replace a whole assembly for a little seal leak and the new one might last three years. It's just not the same trade it used to be.
