Had a week where every engine I touched fought back
Three jobs in a row last Tuesday through Friday. First was a Cummins ISX in a Freightliner that wouldn't hold oil pressure. Spent half a day chasing it, turned out to be a stuck piston cooling nozzle. Then a Cat C15 with a miss that ended up being a rocker bridge that cracked in half. Then on Friday a Powerstroke 6.0 that needed head gaskets, which I knew going in, but two of the head bolts snapped off in the block. Took me into Saturday night to extract them. Anyone else have a stretch like that where nothing goes smooth?

Some days it's like the trucks know you're in a hurry.

I saw this thing on Reddit a while back about how traffic lights are timed specifically to catch drivers who speed up between lights. It was some traffic engineer explaining that the whole system is built around an average speed, and if you're going faster or slower you'll hit more reds. So it's not really that trucks know you're in a hurry, it's more like your hurry puts you out of sync with the flow. Still feels personal when you're stuck behind one going up a hill though.
