Hot take: Saying no to cat converter swaps on diesels is getting tough
A buddy who runs a hauling business asked me to swap his truck's catalytic converter for a straight pipe to avoid future repairs. I know it boosts power and saves him money, but it also breaks clean air rules. Part of me wants to help a friend, part says it's wrong. How do you handle these requests?

Does your buddy even get why those clean air rules exist in the first place?

Honestly piper_nelson, he gets the why but sees the real cost for small shops. Tbh the rules can be good but still feel impossible for some owners to follow. Ngl shouldn't the goal be clean air without killing local business?
