Shoutout to the old guy who showed me a trick for stuck injector sleeves
Had a 6.0 Powerstroke with a coolant leak into the oil, classic sign of a bad sleeve. I was about to pull the whole cab off to get a better angle, which would've taken me all day. This retired mechanic at the parts counter saw me buying the new sleeves and told me to try heating the block around the sleeve with a propane torch for about 90 seconds, then use a slide hammer with a hook I bent myself. Did it exactly like he said and the first one popped right out, saved me like 5 hours of work lol. Anyone else have a weird trick for pulling those things without tearing the whole truck apart?

Wait, you used a slide hammer INSIDE the engine?

Slide hammer goes on the sleeve itself, right? You hook the lip. Not just flailing around in the cylinder. The heat trick works because the aluminum expands faster than the steel sleeve. Lets it break loose.
