Shoutout to the old timer who called my hose routing a fire hazard
Was working on a Detroit 60 series in a Kenworth. Had the fuel lines running right over the turbo housing. Guy at the shop in Bakersfield said 'You trying to cook your customer's truck?' He was right, it was dumb. Rerouted everything with proper heat shielding and clamps. How do you guys handle tight engine bays to keep things safe?

Man, those old guys see EVERYTHING. I did the same thing with a coolant hose once, felt like a total idiot when it started to melt. Now I just use a ton of those little heat sleeve wraps, even if it looks messy.

My buddy Steve did the exact same thing with a vacuum line near his exhaust manifold last summer and it turned into a puddle of goo in like two minutes. Tbh, I've been guilty of using zip ties and prayer more than once to hold stuff together, so I'm in no position to judge anyone's messy wrap jobs. Ngl, the heat sleeve wraps might look like a mess of duct tape and desperation, but they beat having your engine bay turn into a smoke show. Honestly, if my car runs and doesn't catch fire, I call it a win and move on.

Right? Who cares if it looks messy as long as it works?
