I finally tried using a limited color palette for a character piece
I picked just three colors for a fantasy portrait last week, thinking it would be simple. The result was way more detailed and moody than my usual full-spectrum work, which really surprised me. It forced me to focus on value and texture over just adding more hues. Has anyone else had a project turn out completely different because of a self-imposed rule like that?

Limits just make your work boring and predictable.

The last thing @dakota863 wrote was so predictable, though.

Used to roll my eyes whenever Dakota posted about limits. Thought they were just being difficult for attention. But after that last thread where they explained how too many options actually kill creativity in most people, I had to admit they were right. Spent a whole week testing it with my own projects and stuff came out way better when I set some basic rules for myself first.
