My friend told me to stop using pure black for shadows in my portraits...
I tried mixing in dark blue instead for a piece last week, and the whole thing just looks way more alive now. Anyone have other color tricks for skin tones that actually work?

Did you try adding a tiny bit of red to the cheeks?

Yeah, that bit of red is key. It's like how real skin never has just one flat color, it's always a mix of stuff going on underneath.
