PSA: Spent $200 on a brush pack that ruined my latest piece

I bought this 50-pack of digital brushes from an artist on Etsy for $200. The bristle textures looked amazing in the preview but when I loaded them into Procreate they were all pixelated and laggy. Spent 3 hours trying to fix a portrait before I realized the brushes were the problem. Anyone else get burned by a brush set that looked good online but flopped in actual use?

Yeah I had the same problem with a popular oil painter brush set that turned out to be just resized default brushes. I learned to always check the maker's social media for real time lapse videos instead of just looking at the fancy preview images.

Preview images are literally designed to make brushes look good regardless of the actual quality. Watching time lapses is just as easy to fake with some clever editing and a presaved custom workspace. At the end of the day you're still trusting someone's marketing either way, might as well just buy what you need and test it yourself.
