Shoutout to the guy who told me to use a $0.50 brush for digital watercolor work

I spent $30 on a fancy textured brush pack and the cheap default round brush gave me way better results on a portrait of my dog last night, so what cheap tools have surprised you in your art?

Did you try tweaking the brush settings at all or just went default? Sometimes it's more about how you use it than what it costs.

Honestly it's almost like those expensive brush packs are just preying on our guilt about not being good enough with the defaults lmao. I spent like $40 on a "pro" watercolor set once and my kid literally drew a better flower with a free Procreate brush. So yeah, you probably just saved $29.50 and got the same result, congrats on being smarter than me.
