Hit 500GB of unchecked downloads before my laptop finally gave up
Was at a coffee shop in Austin last Tuesday when my hard drive started clicking mid-download of a 40GB texture pack. Had to sit there and delete 3 years of untouched mod folders just to get my cursor moving again. Has anyone else hit a storage wall in public like that?

Man that clicking sound is the worst, I've had that same panic attack in a library once with my old laptop. 40GB texture pack is wild though, I remember trying to download a whole Skyrim mod list and my disk space just evaporated in front of me. Sitting there deleting old saves and random .zip files while everyone around you thinks you're hacking the pentagon is such a specific kind of embarrassment lol. Hope you managed to save whatever you actually needed before it totally crapped out.

@tyler368 the real pro move nobody talks about is checking the drive health BEFORE the clicking starts, you can catch the bad sectors early and migrate your stuff over before it becomes a frantic 3am emergency. I've lost two drives to that exact sound and now I just run CrystalDiskInfo every few months like a paranoid grandpa checking his smoke alarms.
