Thought cloud storage was a waste until my hard drive died last Tuesday
I always backed everything up on external drives, but after my 4TB Seagate started clicking and gave me the dreaded blue screen, I lost about 3 years of freelance designs. A buddy kept pushing Backblaze and I finally caved - it saved my whole portfolio from 2020 onward. What finally convinced you guys that cloud backups were worth the monthly fee?

The cloud's actually cheaper than buying new drives every few years.

Exactly, unless you want to do the math on what you're actually paying for over 10 years with subscription fees adding up way more than a couple hard drives. Cloud storage gets you locked into paying forever just to access your own files, plus you're stuck with whatever speeds and caps the provider sets. Buying a drive once means you own it outright with no monthly bill and no one snooping through your data.
