Tried to clean up my downloads folder last night and my file manager crashed at 14,000 files

I had 37 copies of the same Minecraft mod installer from 2019 and when I tried to delete them all at once Windows Explorer just froze on me for 45 minutes, has anyone else had their system choke on a hoard like that?
