My backup drive gave out in the middle of a project in Chiang Mai

It was a 2TB WD My Passport I've had for three years. The thing just stopped showing up on my laptop two days ago, right before a big client deadline. I had to run to a mall here and pay about $150 for a new one and a data recovery service to try and salvage the files. Anyone have a more reliable brand they've stuck with for a while?

Ever have a drive fail right after you bragged about how long it lasted? Happened to me once, never heard the end of it.
