My external SSD died mid-project and I lost 3 days of work

I was editing video in a cafe in Chiang Mai last Tuesday when my Samsung T7 just stopped showing up on my Mac. No warning, no weird noises, just gone. I panicked for an hour before realizing my last backup was from 4 days prior. Now I carry two separate drives and backup every night without fail. Has anyone else had a drive just die on them like that while abroad?

Man, that T7 really picked the worst possible time to pull a ghost act on you. Guess it's part of the "digital nomad starter pack" now - losing work and learning the hard way.

ngl i feel like people overreact to this stuff lol. yeah it sucks but it's just one gig, you'll find another.
