Shoutout to the barista in Chiang Mai who finally made me realize my gym routine was all wrong
I was doing the same sets and reps for 8 months straight, thinking I was making progress because I could lift a little more each time. Then this guy at the coffee shop asked if I ever change up my rest times or grip width, and I had no idea what he was talking about. Has anyone else had a random stranger give them a fitness tip that totally flipped their whole approach?

Same thing happened to me at a climbing gym last year. Some kid half my age watched me struggle on a route and asked if I ever tried flagging my foot, completely changed how I approach the wall. It's funny how the simplest tweaks from a total stranger can open your eyes to stuff you've been doing wrong for months.

Oh man, I gotta push back a little on that. Getting one-off advice from a stranger can work, but I've had way too many people tell me stuff that just didn't fit MY body or my climbing style. Half the time those quick fixes mess up my flow more than they help, and I end up having to unlearn bad habits later.
