That airport bartender in Bangkok warned me about burnout I didn't listen

Last November I was on a layover in Suvarnabhumi Airport and sat down at a bar. The bartender there, a guy named Somchai, told me he sees digital nomads coming through all the time looking exhausted. He said most of them only last 6 months before they crash. I thought I was different, but 8 months later I was sleeping 4 hours a night and hating every coffee shop I worked from. What he said stuck with me because he was right. Has anyone else had a stranger call them out like that?

Told myself I was "built different" too. Now I'm just a regular guy who can't look at another latte without getting sad.

The funny part nobody talks about is how the people who are actually "built different" never say it. They just quietly do their thing and move on. I noticed that when I stopped trying to prove anything and just started showing up consistently, things actually got easier. The whole mindset thing kind of backfires because you spend more energy selling yourself on the idea than actually doing the work.
