Finally understood why my dad always measured twice after a bad Saturday in the garage
I mean, I was putting up a simple shelf in my garage here in Tacoma and cut a 48 inch board to 46 inches because I read the tape wrong. Had to drive back to the hardware store, buy another board, and start over, which wasted like two hours. It just made me realize how a tiny mistake can blow up a whole afternoon project. Anyone else have a dumb measuring story that cost them time?

Honestly, try measuring three times before you cut anything.

Totally agree with checking measurements more than once. Had a project last year where we almost messed up a big pour because someone read the tape wrong. Now we mark everything with bright chalk and have a second person verify. Saves so much time and money, you know?

Ngl, a 48 inch board cut to 46? That's a whole two inches off, man. How do you even mess up reading a tape that bad, was it upside down or something? Honestly that's the kind of mistake that would make me just stare at the wall for a minute. Bet you triple-check every cut now.
