Just realized my drainage pipe was sloped wrong this whole time

I was digging up a section of my backyard to put in some French drains near the fence line, and I used a 4 foot level to check the slope on my old pipe. Turns out I had like a 2 inch rise over 10 feet, so water was just sitting there. Found out from a blog post by a guy named Mike in Oregon that you need at least 1/4 inch per foot for proper flow. Has anyone else fixed a dumb mistake like this after years of ignoring it?

Wait, 2 inches over 10 feet is a rise? That's basically a water slide going backwards. Good thing you caught it before it became a mosquito farm.

@ninam76 I feel for you, man. That's one of those things that's crazy easy to miss on the initial walkthrough. Good thing you spotted it before the water started pooling and the mosquitoes moved in.
