My bathroom tile job almost ended with a trip to the ER
Honestly, I was cutting the last few pieces of subway tile in my guest bathroom last weekend. I was using my wet saw on the back patio and got a little careless with my hand placement. The tile kicked back and the blade nicked my thumb, just enough to need a bandage and totally ruin my rhythm. Ngl, I had to walk away for an hour before I could finish up without being jumpy. Anyone else have a close call that made them slow way down on a simple job?

Close calls are the best safety lessons.

Close calls definitely wake you up, but who decides when a close call is just a warning vs. when it's actually you pushing your luck? My old man had a buddy who nicked his femoral artery with a utility knife and barely made it to the hospital because he was "too comfortable" with it. Meanwhile I've had sparks flying past my face with a grinder and just changed my pants and kept going. Feels like there's a fine line between learning a lesson and just getting lucky once too often.

My uncle always says the most dangerous tool is the one you're too comfortable with. Glad you're okay!
