My bathroom vanity faucet handle snapped clean off this morning

I was just washing my hands and the cold water handle on my Moen faucet just broke off in my palm, the plastic stem inside was totally cracked. I had to shut off the water under the sink with a pair of pliers because the valve was stuck. Has anyone fixed one of these cartridge stems before, or is it easier to just replace the whole faucet?

Ugh that's the worst, especially first thing in the morning. Those plastic stems in Moen faucets are a known weak spot. I've fixed the cartridge before, it's not too hard if you get the right replacement part from a hardware store. Have you found the model number on your faucet?

Actually the cartridge is brass, not plastic.
