My garage shelf gave out at 3am and took out a bunch of tools

Ngl I thought I did a solid job building that shelf in my garage about 6 months ago. But 3am last Tuesday I heard this crash and found the whole thing on the floor with my circular saw and drill buried under old paint cans. Turns out I used drywall anchors instead of toggle bolts for the studless section. Anyone else find out the hard way that cheap hardware just doesn't hold up?

The thing that makes it worse is when people think they're being helpful by telling you what you should have done. Like yeah, I know I could have done things differently, but that doesn't change the fact that it still sucks right now. You just want someone to say "that really blows" and leave it at that. Not a whole lecture about how to avoid it next time. The worst is when they act like it's your fault for not planning better or whatever. Sometimes things just go wrong no matter how careful you are.
