Painted my kitchen cabinets and they looked worse for a full month
I used Behr paint because everyone says it's great but it took four weeks to fully cure and stop looking sticky. Did I just pick the wrong kind or is that normal for any cabinet paint?

Honestly I used to be all about Behr for everything because the price is right and everyone hypes it up. But after painting my own kitchen cabinets last year and dealing with that sticky mess for weeks I totally get what you're saying now. Ngl it made me rethink my whole approach because I figured it was just me doing something wrong, but turns out it's just how that paint works. I even went back and looked at the can and yeah it says 30 days to fully cure, which is crazy when you're trying to get your kitchen back to normal. Tbh I'm gonna try that Sherwin Williams stuff next time after reading this, quick dry sounds amazing compared to waiting a whole month.

Tbh four weeks sounds about right for Behr cabinet paint. That stuff takes forever to fully harden and I learned the hard way after rushing to put hardware back on. Next time try a waterbased alkyd like Sherwin Williams ProClassic - it dries way faster and doesn't stay tacky for weeks. Just make sure you let each coat dry a full 24 hours before the next one even if it feels dry to the touch.
