Question about a weird number I hit on my deck project

I just finished counting and I used exactly 1,237 screws on my new 12x16 deck. That number feels SO specific and it just surprised me, I guess I thought it would be a rounder total. Anyone else get hung up on a weird final count on a big build?

Had a buddy who built a shed and swore he used 999 nails. He spent like twenty minutes going over his math because it seemed too perfect, like a joke. Honestly, he was half convinced his count was wrong but the bags just worked out that way. Tbh I think we all get a little stuck on those oddball numbers when a project wraps up. It's like your brain expects a nice even hundred and the real total just feels off. Ngl, 1,237 is a seriously specific number to end on.

Oh man, that is so real! I built a bookshelf last month and ended up using exactly 73 screws. I kept checking the empty packs because it felt like such a weird, random number to land on. My brain was screaming it should have been 75 or 70, something round.

@faith_schmidt nailed it with the 73 screws thing. That's exactly how it feels when you're counting. Your buddy's 999 nails is wild though, that's just too clean to be real. 1,237 is oddly precise because you actually counted and it ended up being just that. No one is making that up. It sticks in your head because it's not a normal number. People say "about a thousand" but when you know the exact count it just sounds like you're lying.
