Warning: Skipping moisture checks before laying laminate flooring ruined my subfloor.
I laid laminate flooring in my bathroom without testing for moisture first. Now the planks are warping and I have to replace the whole subfloor. Always use a moisture meter before you start.

It’ll also void the warranty on most flooring. Gotta check that moisture no matter what.

Seal the subfloor first, it's cheaper than fixing a ruined floor later.

Mary's totally right, skipping that step is asking for trouble. We had to replace a whole section of laminate in our old place because we didn't seal properly. Paulyoung makes a good point about warranties too, a lot of companies will look for any reason not to pay out. It's just one of those jobs where cutting corners always costs more later.
