Heads up about the map at the gas station on Route 9 in Hudson
So I stopped at this Shell on Route 9 near Hudson yesterday getting coffee and I noticed their big US map on the wall had Lake Erie labeled as Lake Michigan. It's printed on the wall itself not a sticker so someone really screwed up. If you're taking a screenshot of that for a geography fail post watch out - it'll throw off your whole joke. Anyone else caught a bad map that made you double take?

Honestly this is just how bad mapmaking has gotten in public spaces lately. I saw a mall directory last month that had the food court labeled on the complete wrong end of the building and some poor family was walking around for 20 minutes. Ngl it feels like nobody checks these things anymore. They just pay someone to slap a design together and call it done. Tbh it's kind of funny until you're the one trying to find something using a map that's basically lying to you.

@juliam40 you're not wrong. I ran into this exact thing at a department store last year. Their map showed the returns desk right next to the front door but it was actually hidden in the back corner by the stockroom. I ended up walking across the whole store twice before asking someone.
What helped me was just taking a photo of the map on my phone before I got lost. That way I could zoom in on the details without having to memorize everything. Plus if the map was wrong I had proof to show the staff that it wasn't my fault.
Honestly most of these places rely on whoever made their directory years ago and never update it. They just assume it's fine. But when you're actually trying to get somewhere, a bad map is worse than no map at all because it makes you trust bad info.
