Just realized I've been taking screenshots wrong for years lol

I was at a coffee shop in Portland last Tuesday trying to capture this funny meme reaction pic but it kept coming out blurry. I tried cropping it with my phone's basic editor and ended up with a weird sliver of the image that looked like abstract art. My buddy looked over and showed me how to hold down the power and volume button at the exact same time instead of tapping wildly. It turned out crystal clear on the first try after that. Has anyone else been doing it the hard way without knowing?

Wait black squares? How did you even manage that? I'm picturing you frantically mashing buttons while your phone is on the table and it just gives up on life. I had a similar moment with my old Galaxy where I'd hold the buttons for too long and trigger the emergency call screen instead. The fact that you only learned the trick from dropping it is actually wild though @richard_mason. My sister still screenshots using voice commands because she refuses to learn the button combo.

Honestly I spent like three years tapping random buttons trying to catch screenshots of my texts and half of them just came out as black squares or my lock screen. Tbh my whole camera roll from 2019 is just a graveyard of failed attempts that look like I was taking pictures through a wet paper towel. Ngl I only figured out the two button trick because I dropped my phone and it went off by accident. Now I feel like a secret agent every time I do it even though it's literally the most basic phone function.
