That time I spent 3 years cropping screenshots wrong on my phone

I used to just take a screenshot and then use the basic crop tool in my gallery app. Thought that was fine until last month when I tried to crop a receipt for a refund and the text came out all fuzzy. My buddy who works in IT saw it and laughed, said I was zooming in too much on the jpeg and compressing it to death. He showed me how to use markup instead and keep the resolution. Now I see all my old posts in this group are probably pixelated garbage. Anyone else been doing phone editing wrong their whole life?

My buddy tried to take a screenshot of a concert ticket barcode in 2019 and cropped it so tight the barcode got all warped. He got to the gate and the scanner wouldn't read it for like ten minutes. Security had to manually type in the code from his confirmation email. Still gives him crap about it.

2019 was actually the peak year for this kind of thing. I remember barcode scanners at venues were still pretty janky back then. Most ticket apps now force you to use their QR code that dynamically refreshes, so screenshots don't even work anymore. Your buddy got lucky the security guy was patient enough to type in the code manually.
