I finally called out that zine reviewer who trashed my first issue

Guy on a forum said my collages were 'too busy' and I should simplify. Turns out he was right - my second zine sold twice as many copies at the Portland Zine Fest. Anyone else ignore feedback at first then realize the critic had a point?

Did you already have that feeling in the back of your mind that he might be onto something before you called him out? I totally get how sting that feels, especially when you put a ton of work into your first issue and someone just tears it apart. But it's cool that you were honest enough with yourself later to see he had a point, most people just double down instead. That must have felt pretty good when the second zine did so well though, like a little victory even if you had to eat some humble pie first.
