Can we talk about using a 0.3mm lead for structural details?

I switched to it for a tight beam connection drawing last week, thinking it would be cleaner... but the printer in our office totally ate the lines and half of them didn't show up on the check set. Has anyone else run into this and found a printer that actually handles the fine stuff?

Our plotter guy says 0.5mm is the safe minimum.

Yeah, that "safe minimum" line depends on the material and cut speed. I saw a post where someone kept getting tearing on corrugated plastic at 0.5mm, but dropping to 0.3mm with a slower feed made clean cuts. For simple paper or vinyl, 0.5mm is fine, but thicker stuff often needs less bite.
