DAE still rely on lead holders for initial concept sketches?
I know everyone uses tablets or mice for rough ideas now, but I start every project with a lead holder and vellum. Something about the feel of the lead on paper lets my thoughts flow without software getting in the way. My boss says it slows down the process and wants all digital from the start. I argue those first sketches are cleaner and have fewer silly mistakes than my digital doodles. It takes me an extra hour sometimes, but the final CAD model goes together faster. Has anyone else tried going analog at the beginning? I'm curious if this is just a quirk of mine or if there's real value in it. What's your first step when a new job hits your desk?

Hey, maybe that physical step builds better 3D vision for the CAD work later!

Seriously? Does that muscle memory from sketching by hand actually help you spot problems earlier when you switch to CAD?
