Dropped $250 on a premium drafting stool and my back hates me now

I thought spending the extra cash on a fancy ergonomic stool would fix my lower back pain after sitting at the board all day. Tried it for two weeks straight and honestly my posture is worse than before, plus the seat cushion flattened out after day three. My coworker uses a basic $60 shop stool from Home Depot and swears by it. Anyone else have good luck with a cheap stool over a pricey one?

Honestly I was skeptical about cheap office stuff for years. Always figured you get what you pay for. But your post actually makes me rethink that a bit. Maybe it's more about finding the right fit for your body than dropping a ton of cash. Did you try swapping the cushion out for a different one?

Funny you mention that... I actually tried using a folded up towel once, and it worked better than the fancy gel cushion I bought. @charles_green sometimes the janky solutions beat the expensive ones.
