Found a weird trick for parallel line offsets that actually works

I was marking out conduit runs on a concrete wall last week and kept messing up my parallel lines. Ended up taping two pencils together at a 3 inch gap and it worked perfectly. Anybody else got a janky tool hack that saved your butt on site?

Not sure if taping two pencils together really qualifies as a trick, sounds like you just made a crude caliper. But hey, if it got the job done, whatever works.

Is it really that different from using a caliper though...? Sometimes you just need something that works in the moment, even if it's a bit janky.
